Snow-ctober

We experienced the first ever snow storm before Halloween this year.  Lucky us:).

We woke up to no power and this on Sunday:

`We decided to make the best of it.  We sat by the fire, made Jacks Halloween costume and had a bloody mary:
The kids played on their DS:

Then they got dressed to go outside:
Things went down hill from there.

While it was fun grilling our breakfast outside, eating dinner in the dark was not appealing.  The town over from us had power so we ventured there.  Everything was packed.  We ended up a half hour away eating fast food.  Ugh.  By the time we got home, the fire was out and the house was freezing. We tried to make the best of it:

We went to bed bundled up but no one slept well.  I was seriously in tears by 8am when I realized that we would have to leave the house to seek out food and heat but that meant having to change and pull all the kids together.  Luckily, Jay decided to "work from home" that day...which ended up meaning that he took calls from the warm car while the kids and I walked around the mall.

Just when it seemed all hope was lost....we got power around 3pm.  We also had an invitation to stay with Uncle Dana...thanks Uncle...but we didn't have to take him up on it.

Grammi and Papa were still without power so they came over to warm up.  The kids were sad that Halloween got postponed until Friday night.   We decided to have a trial run in the living room:

We also got to have our friends Bill and Lesli (and their kids and doggie) spend Tuesday night because of the storm.  And the kids got to miss three days of school!

I can't help thinking that I jinxed the Halloween by writing "Think how much time we'll have on Monday Night." in the pumpkin carving post.  Maybe next year, we'll stick to carving the pumpkins the night of Halloween.  Just in case!
